Fiddling while Rome burns

Legend has it that while a fire destroyed the city of Rome, the emperor Nero played his violin, thus revealing his total lack of concern for his people and his empire.

Karen Timberlake, Secretary of the Department of Health Services is doing a fine job of fiddling with the broken and morally bankrupt AIDS service organization in southern Wisconsin instead of addressing the issue head on.

Karen Timberlake has turned a blind eye to the impact her inaction is having on the health and welfare of the 1290 residents of southern Wisconsin who are living with HIV/AIDS.  Instead, she “fiddles” with what is broken, attempting to breathe new life into an organization that should been hauled off to the morgue long ago.

Karen Timberlake is a short-timer. She will be done as Secretary of the Department of Health Services when Governor Doyle leaves office, her legacy marked by failure to address the issues of HIV/AIDS services in the southern region of Wisconsin.

Sadly, she’s obviously content with “fiddling” rather than fixing.
