This issue must be addressed by the Department of Health Services.  It is the latest example of the inappropriate use of state and federal HIV/AIDS grant funds.  The facts:

  • The “Pozitive Lite” support group at AIDS Network was used a a venue for a “porn exchange”.  This support group is facilitated by an AIDS Network case manager.
  • State Life Care Services and Federal Ryan White grant funds are used to pay the salary of the case manager that facilitates this support group.
  • Daniel Guinn, Director of Client Services and Karen Dotson, Executive Director have once again failed to adequately supervise their staff.  Much like the “frisky.com” fiasco that lead to the “resignation” of case manager Bethany Matson, Dotson and Guinn have failed to provide adequate direction and oversight to their staff.
  • The “porn exchange” created an environment ripe with the possibility of claims of sexual harassment.
  • This issue must immediately be addressed by the Department of Health Services.  Guinn and Dotson have failed in their management oversight responsibilities and must be called to task for this serious lapse in judgement.
